R&D Electronics Engineer (Onsite)
($80K – $95K )
Responsible for the support of engineers in the process of electronic testing, planning, and coordinating the development and design of electronic controls for manufacturing equipment
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and build the electrical components of automated equipment for medical electrode production including complete PLC controls systems and robotics
- Perform safety evaluations of design; research, develop and build electrical safety systems for R&D equipment and components
- Provide R&D support by reviewing engineering project instructions, wiring diagrams, procedures, and test equipment
- Investigate technical problems and present possible solutions (such as sensor wiring and setup, panel enclosure wiring, PLC wiring and general electrical troubleshooting)
- Develop methods and procedures for testing products or systems including setting up oscilloscope and testing equipment
- Conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control
- Electrical design using schematic capture software and other engineering tools
- PLC programming using Relay Ladder Logic & other related programmable devices, PLC hardware, HMI programming
- Document design activities within PLC programs, electrical schematics, and other engineering tools
- Troubleshoot electronic and electrical components in equipment
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualification requirements:
- Must be able to perform each duty outlined above and possess the education, skills, and abilities described in this job description
Education and/or experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering (BSEE) with five or more years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports) and ability to write and effectively communicate with managers, clients, customers, and employees
Mathematical skills:
- Ability to apply advanced math concepts
Reasoning ability:
- Ability to identify problems and review relevant information to evaluate options and develop solutions
Physical requirements:
- Constant use of hands and arms
- Good depth perception, hearing, speech, and vision (including ability to distinguish colors)
- Lifting up to 30 pounds (up to 3 feet high) 2 times a day
Other skills/abilities:
- Experience incorporating and programming robotics into machine design preferred
- Direct Logic, Do-more, and C-more programming
- Write specifications, work instructions, and maintenance manuals
- Computer literacy, especially knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel programs
